Dr Mark, as his patients call him, was excited about a career in medicine from childhood. During medical school, he became more interested in the study of allergy and immunology and saw many children with these health problems while serving as a pediatrician in the Army. Dr. Mark was selected for specialty training in allergy and asthma and finished his military career as the allergist at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. He then joined another new allergist in the area, Dr. WES Stricker, and together they established busy allergy offices in Jefferson City and Columbia.

Dr. Mark began to assist Dr. Stricker in clinical studies of new allergy and asthma drugs in 1987. He soon became the President and Medical Director for Clinical Research of the Ozarks, initially based in Rolla. They have now conducted over 500 trials of new allergy medications including Claritin, Clarinex, Zyrtec, Xyzal, Allegra, Flonase, Nasonex, Nasacort, and Veramyst. Asthma drugs which CRO helped to research include Singulair, Flovent, Pulmicort, Asmanex, Advair, Symbicort, and Dulera. Dr Mark considers it a privilege to have been involved in the development of so many important medications for his patients' health.   Dr. Mark also enjoys teaching and has numerous medical students and residents rotate through his office at different times. In addition, he is able to share his extensive knowledge of new medications with area physicians through lectures and roundtable discussions.

Finally, Dr. Mark has served in many volunteer capacities to include asthma screening activities, patient education programs, community awareness events, asthma camp supervision, and leadership service to his national professional organizations, such as the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.   Dr. Mark and his wife Jeannette have lived in mid-Missouri for over 25 years. They have three adult children and three handsome grandsons. Both are active in their church, Scouting, PTA, and other community activities. It is a great professional satisfaction for Dr Mark to provide compassionate state-of-the-art specialty care to so many allergy sufferers in mid-Missouri during these past two decades.
